Why do we choose a government at the first place? Yes, you are right—to have someone powerful who can address the various issues of the country, its people, and direct the nation to greater heights. Time and again, hence, powerful slogans addressing different needs of the country have found their place in political record books. Political parties have hinged their vote campaigns on red-alert matters such as anti-corruption, recovering black money, women empowerment, anti-poverty, scam busts, employment generation, cultivation and food issues, and many more. But, unfortunately, we have an even greater catastrophe looming on our cities, country, and the planet.
Plastic—the harmless invention that has transformed the world beyond imagination. Once heralded as the ‘miracle material’ owing to its light-weightiness, multi-application characteristics, inexpensive pricing, etc, plastic found its way into almost everything we find around us today. And, that sowed the seed of perhaps the most likely ‘gradual extinction’ of humanity and this planet. From destroying marine life in oceans, polluting soil in landfills, choking water streams, to causing numerous health damages like even cancer, plastic is a virus to Earth. Over billions of plastic items are thrown away each day around the globe, and they are choking the earth from its remotest factions to its deepest sections. And, that’s why, numerous global organizations, countries, and even the United Nations, last year, declared a war on plastics and vowed to reduce its usage and wastage to save the planet and save its inhabitants.
Through the following creative series, we put forward a question to all political parties and to the people of India. Don’t you think plastic has done enough to make it one of the primary agendas for the new elected government? Don’t you think the new government should lay its full attention on taking the war against plastic to newer heights? As citizens of this country, well-wishers of the planet, we call upon all political parties to come and address this burning plastic problem. We call upon the future Government of India to save the country and its people from plastic’s catastrophic trap! We need to take an ultimate stand against this planet’s ultimate enemy!
